Three Ways To Start Loving Your Master Closet

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the state of your master closet? If so, don't worry - I'm here to help! Below, I've listed three effective ways that will transform your master closet into a space you love and enjoy.

Tip 1: Declutter (The Easy Edition)

Do the no-brainer ones: (and you'll feel a difference!)

- Any item with a tag that has not been worn from when the season started until it ended.

Holding onto it doesn't give it value. It was a loss when you paid for the item. Now you will gain more by giving it away.

- Torn, stained, ripped items.

If you can't wear them, don't hold onto them. It will free up so much space. (physical and mental!)

- Shoes.

Have only one piece? Garbage. Smells terrible and has a hole? Garbage. Sitting in your closet for over two years? Give it away or throw it away.

- Take a deep breath and scan your eyes at your clothing.

Take out any clothes that bother you. Hate that pink skirt? You bought it in a hurry, wore it once, and didn't feel comfortable. Keeping it in your closet won't make you like it more. Give it to someone who will enjoy it.

Tip 2: Create Zones

categorized and zoned closet

Look at your rod. Is there a mix of your clothes and your husband's clothes? This scenario is a sign of no zones! Create a designated area for your husband's items and a designated area for your items.

Avoid keeping all your clothes in one big pile; instead, create separate areas for items like t-shirts, sweaters, and shells. Once you've established designated spots for each item, you'll find it easier to put them away and locate them when needed.

The zones in your closet will depend on your lifestyle and preferences. Customize your zones according to your individual needs.

There are two basic zones: macro zones and micro zones

A macro zone is a zone with big categories. Ex: shirts, skirts, pants, long items

A micro zone is a zone where the big categories are broken down into smaller categories. Ex: Shabbos tops, weekday tops, party tops, white shirts, Shabbos pants, weekday pants, weekday skirts, weekday dresses, etc.

Example of lifestyle preference:

If you think in terms of colors, you might want to consider zoning your closet by color.

However, keep in mind that maintaining a color-coded system requires more time.

Tip 3: Beautify It

Having matching hangers, a pretty bin, and a functional design piece can really make a difference!

When you care for your master closet and give it a little extra attention, it can transform your feelings from embarrassment to love and excitement!

Remember, opening your closet should make you smile. Don't worry about what others might think; just do what makes you happy.

In conclusion, by following these simple yet effective closet organization hacks, you can bid farewell to clutter and welcome a sense of calm and order into your daily routine. Declutter, strategize, and beautify it – you will love your closet!
